'ER' is set to get a new character next season.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Angela Bassett, who was Oscar-nominated for her portrayal of Tina Turner in 'What's Love Got to Do with It', will play a nurse with a troubled past in the 15th series.
The trade daily says that the character's arrival "promises to shake County General's ER to the core".
Commenting, 'ER's executive producer John Wells said: "Angela is a wonderfully talented actress whom I've long hoped to work with."
In other 'ER' news, original cast member Noah Wyle (Dr John Carter) will guest star in at least four episodes next season.
